What’s the difference between Hard Gel and Acrylic?Hard Gel Hard gel is often considered to be a healthier and more eco-friendly alternative to acrylics. Gel is only hardened/cured when exposed to LED or UV light. Gel nails look and feel more natural because they’re slightly more flexible than acrylics. They’re generally recommended for clients who often have their hands submerged in water, work with chemicals (such as acetone), or who enjoy changing their nail polish colour frequently. Acrylic Acrylic consists of a powder and liquid which are combined to create the added nail length. Acrylic nails are known for their strength and durability, but tend to feel less natural since they’re more rigid compared to hard gels. Acrylics are not recommended for clients who are frequently submerging their hands in water or chemicals. Doing so frequently could cause the acrylic to break down and lift which could lead to trapped bacteria between the nail and the acrylic.
